Advanced Manufacturing
Program Overview

Manufacturing employs more people than any other industry in the state of Indiana. This means there is a high demand for educated and skilled advanced manufacturing technicians. The Advanced Manufacturing program is designed to prepare students for the modern manufacturing environment. This program will prepare you for employment with companies that have implemented team oriented design, production, quality, and maintenance systems within the manufacturing environment.

American manufacturers are becoming increasingly dependent upon the use of high-tech equipment that involves multiple, integrated systems. It is critical that these companies be able to recruit and employ individuals who know how to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain this high tech equipment.

"I began attending Ivy Tech as a student at the OAMTC, and was later hired as a part-time employee while I worked on my degree. My relationship with Ivy Tech has benefited me with knowledge of machining. I have learned more than I would have, thought real-world programming outside of the classroom.

The OAMTC has helped me reach my goals by preparing me for a career in the machining industry. A specific instance would be when I was learning how to write a CNC program by hand. When I needed help, they were willing to teach me what I needed to know, such as: how to properly set up a machine, how to write a program, proving out/debugging the program, and running the finished part.

I would tell anyone that the instructors at Ivy Tech are like family. As a part-time employee, they are always helping me, and in return I do the same. They were patient with me in the beginning and have given me a chance to perfect my knowledge and skills, and for that am grateful."
